ITINERARY

DAY 01: PUERTO MALDONANDO - MONTE AMAZONICO LODGE- MONKEY ISLAND

Reception at the airport or land terminal and transfer to the Monte Amazónico Lodge office for the corresponding registrations. Transfer to the port captaincy where we will take the boat for an hour, to our lodge -Welcome meeting, with a refreshing juice based on fruits of our region. Installation in our respective rooms. After a refreshing rest, you will be introduced to a two-hour walk in the dense tropical forest, guided by an expert local guide, who will take you through our trails and you will be able to appreciate a variety of trees that can be more than five hundred years old, as well as to observe some species of wild animals such as toucans, oropendolas, macaws, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, etc.. You will have the opportunity to experience the magic of our Amazon rainforest which is within the TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE, (278,000 hectares protected). After lunch, we will visit the "Monkey Island", located in front of our lodge across the Madre de Dios River where we will find different species such as the family of capuchin monkeys monkey friar monkeys that live on the island and return to the lodge. At night we will go in search of white caimans that are usually found on sandbanks in the Madre de Dios River for which it will be necessary to bring a flashlight. Also, we will be able to see the capybara, the largest rodent in the world that can weigh up to 60 kilos, return to the lodge, dinner and rest.

DAY 02: LAKE SANDOVAL

After breakfast we will walk 3 km. In the middle of the dense rainforest and we will head towards the Sandoval Lake (piranha habitat) one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve and we will take a paddle boat ride where we will appreciate a great variety of birds and monkeys of different species, (shansho, cormorant, jacanas, puma garza, gallinazos, cotomono, monkey friar, black machin, pichicos and sloths). Perhaps we will have an encounter with the family of giant otters (almost two meters long) that is in danger of extinction and the largest caimans registered more than 4 meters long, return to the lodge to enjoy a typical lunch. In the afternoon we will return to the city, transfer to the bus station.
